Maloney_and_clinton_2Sean Maloney has been appointed by Governor Spitzer to be First Deputy Secretary to the Governor of New York. Sean’s major appointment to the Governor’s inner circle continues his already distinguished career of public service. Sean's new position traditionally brings great authority on a broad range of issues.

During the administration of President Clinton, Sean was both the youngest and the highest ranking gay man on the President's staff, serving as Staff Secretary.

Last year, Sean ran for the Democratic nomination for Attorney General of New York and placed third in that primary. This new appointment by the Governor continues to place Sean Maloney among the most powerful and high ranking appointed gay or lesbian officials in the country and grants him significant power in New York.

Sean lives with his partner Randy Florke in New York with their three children.
