Two gay men were attacked in Hoboken, New Jersey as they left a gay bar and embraced. It is one in what appears to be a dramatic increase in hate crimes lately. No one is covering this issue better than Towleroad.com. The site is vigilant in reporting hate crimes committed against the LGBT community around the world.
The good news is that increasingly the perpetuators of such crimes are being arrested and sent away. In past years, they were either never arrested or given very light prison sentences. I will never forget years ago when two teenage boys killed a young gay man leaving a gay bar in Arizona; the judge in the case praised them for performing a public service. Times are getting better.
