Here's my problem with a China Olympics boycott it's too late in the game. The boycott should have started when China was being considered by the Olympic committe as a host city for the 2008 games. Where were the protests then and up to now I've read nothing about any protests or boycotts.

Perhaps the fact that we get busy with our every day lives put it on the back burner for a lot of us. The issue is not whether or not we should boycott the olympics, we definitely should. Late in the game? Is it too late to say "You're hurting people, you should stop, but since we were reminded about it late, carry on..."

The problem is not just Tibet, Tibet brought it back to the front burner. How about the rules imposed just for the Olympics after it was decided they were going to be there? Are you aware they are banning mentally handicapped people from the entire city? We here in the US have had some royal screwups, especially since Karl Rove and Dick Cheney took office, but let's get serious here, these people, in trying to make a good appearance, are leaving their horns and tails sticking out from the fancy robes. What they do to people is wrong.

Boycotting the Olympics could bring harsh economic penalties to the US since China currently holds over $1 trillion of our $9.4 trillion national debt.

Of course the U.S. might want to look inside our own boarders to see how well we treat our own people. Currently 1 out of 100 American adults are in prison (the highest incarceration rate in the world). The average drop out rate for public schools in the top 50 cities is 50% (30% nationally). Our healthcare system is in shambles, the LGBT community is treated as second class citizens. Our election process is riddled with corruption and our Congress is for sale to by lobbyists. America has 5%^ of the world's population and consumes 25% of the World's resources and we won't even sign the Kyoto accords.

Perhaps before calling the kettle black we might want to look in a mirror for a change!!!!
