-Well, the horrible week is over and those Republican delegates head back to their homes. McCain's speech was boring and very little new. Some of the delegates even fell asleep on the floor. Jeffrey Toobin of CNN says the speech might have been the worse acceptance speech since Jimmy Carter's in 1980! Now that the conventions are over, the cast of players is set, the issues are defined; let the games begin.

-Can anything be more depressing than watching a couple of thousand, mostly white male delegates chant, "Drill, Baby, Drill"? Who would have thought we would witness this spectacle at a major national institution. Rivaling the tasteless chant was the newborn Palin baby being passed from person to person including Cindy McCain taking a turn during Guiliani's rant. Give me a break!

-Future First Lady Michelle Obama was the hit of Hollywood this week. At a stunningly successful LGBTObama3  fundraiser at the home of CAA agent Bryan Lourd and Brian Bozzi, celebrities mingled while munching on tasty tidbits! Listening to Michelle Obama endorse equality for the LGBT community were fashion icon Tom Ford, actress Helen Hunt, American Beauty producer Bruce Cohen, actress Reese Witherspoon and other celebrities. The Obama campaign orginally hoped to raise a quarter of a million dollars but in the end over $600,000 was achieved for the evening. It appears that all of Hollywood has jumped on the Obama bandwagon!

-Many in the community are still reeling at the Log Cabin Republican's endorsement of the McCain/ Palin ticket given their horrible record on LGBT issues. One of the better minds and writers in the blog world is Chris Crain whose Citizen Crain is a daily must read. Crain, in a detailed and powerful response to the Log Cabin Republicans, devastated their reckless endorsement and the implications of their actions. Click here to read it.

- will someone please remind me how many more months we have before we can vote Senator Joe Lieberman out of office?

-anyone notice that the nation of Afghanistan has not been mentioned at the Republican Convention?

-Former SBA Clinton appointee, Fred Hochberg, has been appointed by Governor Patterson to serve as a Commissioner on the extremely powerful Port Authority for New York and New Jersey. Think that means a great parking place at all the airports. If you need a lift to the airports, give Fred a call!

-From what I am hearing from friends, the nomination of Governor Palin is of great relief to gay men attempting to figure out what their Halloween costumes should be this year.

Shrum -Brilliant author and speechwriter Bob Shrum (on left) has been tapped to write a weekly column for the successful The Week Daily. Bob always has the most interesting observations in any political year. Given the craziness of this year, his column should not be missed. Just click here to get to the site.

-Many activists took a break on Wednesday night to attend the motion picture premiere of Save Me in New York. Besides the stars of the movie, Judith Light and Stephen Lang, we saw Bishop Eugene Robinson, New York Arts Commissioner Jeff Soref, writer Paul Lomardi, Governor Patterson's go-to- man Sean Maloney, country design guru Randy Florke and many others.

-As a lover of wildlife, one of the most disturbing facts about Governor Palin is that she has aggressively pushed for aerial hunting of wolves and bears. This brutal and unsportsman practice is shown in the very graphic video below sent out by Defenders of Wildlife. PLEASE take a look and you will know what kind of person has been selected to be a possible Vice-President.
