Fresno -Fresno will never again be the same! This past weekend over 5,000 marriage equality advocates marched in the central California conservative city. Hell, we have trouble at times getting that many people together in New York City! Meet In the Middle for Equality really did an incredible job. 100 of the marchers marched from Selma, California fourteen miles in the mid-90 degree weather to join the others at the rally.

-For weeks all the talk within the Beltway has been about a 'major package' of announcements about LGBT rights that will come from the Obama team in June. The expectations have grown as the unrest has grown about the lack of action so far. Like the rest of the folks waiting, I am desperately hoping for real substantive progress that deals with our major issues. Now being June, the sooner they announce the package the better.

-Human rights took a dramatic leap forward in Nevada this weekend. The Republican governor whose wife is suing him for repeated adultery, vetoed the domestic partnership bill passed by the legislature. The legislature over rode the philandering Governor's veto and Nevada now has domestic partnership. The casinos lined up strongly behind the override!

-Brilliant actress Judith Light can be seen in the AR Gurney play, "Children", both in Westport, Connecticut and Williamstown, Massachusetts. For those in Westport it runs from now through June 13. For the Williamstown Theatre Festival catch Judith from July 1 to July 12. No one shines on the stage like Judith Light.

-Lenin must be turning over in that tomb in Red Square! You have to love the results for the Communist Party in the recent Parliamentary elections in India. They got hammered and dropped 50% from their previous showing. Why? Because they were attempting to seize the land of the poor for chemical plants!

-ABC News International ran an item on the increasing torture and deaths of young members of the LGBT community in Iraq. Six bodies were found within a ten day period as Shiite militia groups urge families to maintain their honor by killing LGBT children. At least five coffee shops popular with the community have been burned to the ground.

-The no-nonsense Jack Cafferty on CNN says it time to put in jail those around Bush and Cheney for the crimes they committed while in office. In his commentary he says,

"George W. Bush and his accomplices damaged this country like it's never been damaged before. And it's not just the phony war in Iraq or the torture memos that justified waterboarding. It's millions of missing emails and the constant use of executive privilege and signing statements."

-University of Southern California Annenberg's School is smiling brighter today as their director Geoff Cowan has been elected to the very prestigious American Academy of Arts and Sciences. The Academy, founded by John Adams in 1780 is a place for American intellectuals to exchange ideas.

-An open lesbian as mayor of America's fourth largest city, Houston? Not out of the question Parker according the Gay and Lesbian Victory Fund! City Controller Annise Parker (photograph) has been elected six times both in city wide council races and as Controller. She is a leading contender to be the next mayor. Who would have thought Houston might beat New York or San Francisco? You can help Ms. Parker by just clicking here.

-Appears that some folks want to come to DC for a LGBT Rights March for Equality. In a huge number of voters, 85% of our readers say they will attend a March on Washington. Only 7% said don't look for them in town!

-Evidently, we soon will have "Real Housewives of Washington, D.C." on BRAVO Cable Network. Now that one could make Atlanta look like amateur hour! Can't wait to see who they pick and if there is any politics to this one! Maybe they can find one of Newt Gingrich's former wives.

-Speaking of Newt Gingrich, it is clearly time for the ex-Speaker to pack it up and go home to rural Georgia and nurse a Dr. Pepper. How far out is it to call our distinguished Supreme Court nominee a "racist"? Seems that Judge Sotomayor says her upbringing could influence how she sees the world. Yeah, don't you kinda think that would be true of any of us?? The increasingly unhinged Rush Limbaugh compared her to David Duke the former KKK leader. Whatever these guys are drinking, it is time to get sober.

-Now the Republicans are all in an uproar about President and Mrs. Obama heading to New York for dinner and a Broadway play. I think it is just terrific! What a delight to have a stylish First Couple that loves to go out, support the arts and have fun. Certainly the crowds that lined the street eight deep didn't seem to mind! Inside the Belasco Theater, when the Obamas were shown to their seats, the entire audience reportedly gave them a long standing ovation.

-Upon finding out this morning that Susan Boyle placed second in Britain's Got Talent, I dashed to youtube.com to see the winner of the show. Say what? Nice group of dancers but didn't blow me out of the water.

-One has to be just sick and disgusted about the horror of the cold blooded killing of Dr. George Tiller in his church in Wichita, Kansas. How horrifying since the doctor's crime was providing full healthcare services to women. Our love and support go out to his family and friends.
