-Wow! Here is a story for you! A lesbian couple in Florida is celebrating their 70th wedding anniversary. Having had to keep their love secret for years, a big celebration is planned in honor of Caroline Leto and Venera Magazzu at Temple Etz Chaim in Wilton Manor. The feisty couple makes a delightful story by Ihosvani Rodriguez in the South Florida Sun-Sentinel. Read the entire story by clicking here.

-As we help celebrate Leto's and Magazzu's 70 years you can't help but examine the flow of hypocrites160px-Chip_Pickering%2C_official_109th_Congress_photo coming out of the Republican Party with former Congressman Chip Pickering (photograph) from Mississippi discovered cheating on his wife while living in "Prayer House On Avenue C" while in Congress! Pickering joins the ranks of Stanford, Craig, Foley, Livingston, Gingrich, Ensign and so many other adulterers who have the damn nerve to lecture us on family values.

-Watching Judge Sonia Sotomayer take the heat from Republicans was something to behold. The clearly talented, calm and poised judge did not once lose it under the barrage of questions about her "Wise Latina" comment. However, given the remarks from the Republicans on the panel and her response, I think her point was proven - a "Wise Latina" would certainly render a decision more scholarly than the "Dumb Whites" that questioned her. Not sure how she will be on LGBT issues but she was amazing in the hearings.

-Speaking of the Sotomayer confirmation hearings, didn't your jaw drop when US Senator Lindsey Graham (R-SC) quoted anonymous sources about Sotomayer's temperament? Given all the 'anonymous sources' saying Graham is gay, he most likely wasn't in the best position to attack Sotomayer with anonymous sources.

-Much of the Internet and HIV/AIDS community is abuzz about New York State Senator Tom Duane's powerful speech on the floor of the senate in Albany. Duane was the first openly HIV positive person elected in the history of country and got quite emotional and powerful during a 22 minute speech. At one point he shouted, "You think it's funny to kill Duane's bill but you're killing people!" See the entire speech by clicking here.

-Gallup Poll gives us a first look at the 2012 GOP Primary for president. Clean cut Mormon Mitt Romney has 26%, erratic Sarah Palin is at 21%, sanctimonious Mike Huckebee brings home 19% and our favorite adulterer Newt Gingrich is at 14%. Now would love to see a poll if Sarah Palin runs as an independent in 2012. My guess without Palin in the primary, Huckebee sweeps ahead.

-A lesbian Mayor of Houston, Texas? What would Barbara Bush say? Houston City ControllerParkeri Annise Parker is running an excellent race for the open seat. She stands a good chance of being elected of this Texas oil capital! You can support this remarkably talented women at the Gay and Lesbian Victory Fund site.

-Had the pleasure of meeting the great Walter Cronkite and having him cover the stories of the Vietnam Moratorium in 1969. The words that first come to mind when hearing his name is 'true gentleman'. I adored him and we could certainly use his honesty and wisdom today.

-Speaking of the Vietnam Moratorium and the national day of protest on October 15, 1969 where millions participated around the world,we will be having their 40th reunion in Washington, DC this coming October. Go to the reunion website and leave your recollections of that day. On that site you can see Cronkite's coverage of that historic day.

-Senator Edward Kennedy, with his dear friend Bob Shrum, has written a moving and passionate article in "Newsweek" making the case for healthcare. In an article, "The Cause of my Life", the senator outlines the urgent need for healthcare now in America. This is a must read for everyone.

-This is the time of year when National Geographic picks the best nature photographs. I would love to share two of them with you.
