LOGO going off the air? IT News Online reports that LOGO will go 'dark' for the first time in history from 11 AM to 3 PM on October 11th the day of the National Equality March. LOGO joins the cast of HAIR in shutting down for the National Equality March.

Could Atlanta be set to elect its first white mayor in 36 years? TIME Online reports that candidate Mary Norwood is leading in recent polls. Despite this milestone, the election has been relatively free of race baiting on either side. Progress.

-British Prime Minister Gordon Brown continues to amaze with his strong support of LGBT issues. He officially apologized for the treatment given by the British for gay war hero Alan Turing (photo)Alan-Turing-220_1479263f . The famous code breaker who literally changed the course of World War II was convicted of homosexuality in 1952 and given the choice of chemical castration or prison. Given that choice, he took his own life. Prime Minister Brown said in his statement, "I'm proud to say I am sorry to a real war hero." Thank you Mr. Prime Minister.

-Virginia loves Ronnie. When Virginians were asked who is their favorite President, the citizens of the Old Dominion state chose President Reagan by 44%. President Obama received 23% and George W. Bush was dead last. I can forgive them Reagan as long as Bush was last!

-For those who care deeply about our government's housing policies, my dear friend David Erickson has just had published a new book "TheHousing Policy Revolution" by The Urban Institute Press. Erickson goes deep into the history of the U.S. housing policy and how it has impacted our cities, welfare and economics. This is an amazingly thoughtful and intelligent book.

-Who would have thought spanking was the fetish of choice for old moral majority Republicans who fought so hard for Proposition 8? Can't you just see the young lobbyist cooing to Yorba Linda, California Assemblyman Mike Duvall, "Spank me Daddy, I have been a very bad girl?" Of course, the married Duvall, who often boasted about his 100% family values rating, resigned in disgrace this week. I suppose the next step is for him to make the rounds of Christian radio telling how being bad made him good.

-Political expert Charles Cook of cookpolitical.com says that the Nevada senate race has gotten closer. Appears that Democratic Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid is having a tough time. Cook has moved the race from 'likely Democrat' to 'toss-up'.

-Cook on the other hand hasn't joined those that think South Carolina Congressman Joe "You Lie" Wilson could be in trouble in 2010. Cook feels there will not be a strong African-American turnout like in 2008 with Obama.

-Charles Perez (photo) who was anchor at WABC News in New York for several years and recently Charles Perez 1 was dismissed by WPLG in Miami because of an ugly breakup with a former partner is moving to Connecticut and getting married to his partner Keith Rinehard. Those of us who are huge fans and friends of the anchor wish him very well. No one deserves it more!

-Good news for Democrats out of New Jersey with Incumbent Democratic and pro-marriage equality Governor Jon Corzine closing the gap with Republican Chris Christie. In many polls, it is almost a dead heat now. Independent candidate Chris Daggett is running in double digits and hurting Christie.

Congressman Barney Frank is refusing to co-sponsor a repeal of DOMA. Strong LGBT supporter New York Democratic Congressman Jerry Nadler is submitting legislation next week for the full repeal of DOMA. Let's hear three cheers for Nadler!

-Are we returning to the 1960's with the new sweep of gay bars by police departments around the country? The most recent was the Atlanta Eagle and it seems as if every week there is a new one.

-With Joe Kennedy and Vicki Kennedy deciding not to run for the late Senator Edward Kennedy's seat, it will most likely be the first time in over sixty years that Massachusetts has not had a Kennedy in Congress. Sad turn of events.

-Forbes' list of the most powerful women in the world was topped by German Chancellor Angela Merkel (photo). How many of you know the powerful American who placed second? Sheila Bair who is Chairwoman of the Federal Deposit Insurance Corp!

-Massive flooding has hit Western Africa with over 150 dead and 100,000 homeless. And the rainy season is not over! Especially hard hit are the nations of Sierra Leone, Senegal, Niger and Burkina Faso. They all are appealing for help.

-The world's oldest person died this week in Los Angeles at 115. One thing we know for sure is whoever holds the title next won't have it for long.

-President Nixon got off easy if you look at what just happened to former Taiwan President Chen Shui-bian. The Asian leader got life imprisonment for corruption. Former First Lady Wu Shu-chen was also sentenced to life. They got life and Nixon got San Clemente!

-Connecticut Democratic Senator Chris Dodd is in real trouble politically. The senator, who is recovering from prostate cancer, is behind by 10% against former Republican Congressman Rob Simmons in the latest Rasmussen Reports Poll.

-Forecasters are saying the second half of the hurricane season won't be too bad but that the East Coast in early October should be on alert.
