National equality march This past weekend the "Teabaggers" filled the streets of our nation's Capital. This follows up on them filling the town meetings of members of Congress when they headed home this past August. Interestingly enough they don't seem to have a problem doing more than one thing at a time. They can mount an anti-gay effort in Maine, fill town meetings, mount court cases and still, on short notice, stage a massive march on Washington, D.C.

Getting my point?

Simply put, we have to want our freedom and full equality more than those who want to take it away from us. If we don't, then we will lose it and see a system of "Gay Apartheid in America." The choice is yours.

We have to send whatever we can possibly afford - whether it is $5 or $500 to Maine. We have to make members of Congress want to be by our side in the pursuit of justice and freedom. We have to file tough lawsuits like the one with David Boies and Ted Olsen. As a community we have to stop worrying about failure and embrace our own future. Shed our low self esteem and step up to the plate and fight for what is rightfully ours. We are not asking for anything special. Our rights already exist. The teabaggers and others want to take them away.

Let me repeat that. Our freedom already is guaranteed. The only question is whether we are going to let them out-organize us, hold back in fear, and hope things will get better in the future or are we finally going to understand that the time is NOW for us to step boldly forward and protect our God-given freedom?

So get off it. Come to the National Equality March and stop worrying about how many will be there. The only question that is important is will you be there? Come and join thousands of others ready to mobilize and fight to our death for our freedom. Come and let the nation see us in all of our splendor and determination.

If our oppressors can do it, so can we. I promise you hope always triumphs hate and we are the hope. Come not in fear but in anticipation of winning our long epic battle. Come not in hate but to show America a better way in almost every aspect of their lives. Come and show this nation that they haven't even begun to see the magnificence of the gifts the LGBT community brings to them. All they have to do to receive it is embrace hope and a love of justice instead of fear and oppression.

Don't have money? Hold cake sales. Ask family and friends. Help fill a bus. Don't have time? If you don't have time now, when is there a good time? Don't agree with 100% of everything about the march? You think the all the teabaggers were in perfect agreement?

See you in Washington on October 11.
