Sarah Brown Most people know of Britain's First Lady Sarah Brown (center in photograph) because of her unstoppable work with the White Ribbon Alliance. She has devoted her time and energy to promoting safe motherhood and combating infant mortality around the globe. Over 143 countries have active members in the White Ribbon Alliance. That alone would leave this extraordinary woman on a special honor roll of historical First Ladies.

However, she has also taken up the cause of fighting for justice and freedom for LGBT people. She has spoken up against oppression of the LGBT community wherever she travels, along with her husband, Prime Minister Gordon Brown, who has been the stimulus for some ground breaking historical actions from Number 10 Downing Street. She has held the first ever State luncheon for the LGBT community. She has flung open the doors of the Prime Minister's residence for numerous receptions and functions for the community.

Not content to express her views just behind the safety of Number 10's doors, she has taken to the streets to show her support as First Lady of Britain. Unbelievably, she marched in London's Gay Pride Parade. In the recent historic Trafalgar Square rally against violence towards the LGBT community where tens of thousands jammed the square, First Lady Brown was there and offering her support. She has marched with us and stood with us in our fight for justice. No First Lady on this planet has done as much for this community as Sarah Brown.

From your many LGBT fans around the world, thanks Sarah!
