Lauer_shirtless

-Do you think that NBC's "The Today Show " is becoming desperate with ABC's "Good Morning America" closing in on them? Do we really have to have the gimmick of Sarah Palin anchoring an hour of the show to counter Katie Couric who is guest hosting the ABC show this week? Maybe Matt Lauer should just appear shirtless every morning if they continue to lose ratings. That, of course, would be my vote.

-Most candidates would kill for this kind of news. New York City Council President Christine Quinn's campaign for mayor announced that the major LGBT Fundraiser on her behalf is totally sold out and has a 'wait list.' Wow.

-The latest polls for the Wisconsin Primary today show Mitt leading Rick by anywhere from 7% to 10%. Mitt should be a little concerned about a possible close race since Rick always has run better than he polls.

-The New Civils Rights Movement Blog has a wonderful article on Brian Sims' (above)attempt to become the first open LGBT legislator in Pennsylvania's history. The former college football player is the real deal. Read the article and then make a contribution by clicking here since the election is just a couple of weeks away.

-This will make you feel good about the billions we are sending to Afghanistan each year: In an article on CNN.com, it is estimated that $8 billion a year is smuggled out of the nation. That is half of the estimated $16 billion in aid that the Allies gave to Afghanistan the same year. Maybe these facts contribute to the reason that in the latest CBS/ New York Times poll 69% of Americans think we should not be fighting in Afghanistan!

-The men doing the dirty deed on the balcony and getting arrested in Dominica reminded us to be careful where we travel. Mandatory.com has listed the ten most dangerous prisons in the world. Obviously should tell you in what countries to keep your fun and games indoors!

-Towleroad.com recently ran this video from "Britain's Got Talent." Teaches all of us never to go by appearances. Wow.

-In the latest Boston Globe poll, Senator Scott Brown and Elizabeth Warren are in a virtual tie.

-Norway has set as its goal of reducing carbon dioxide emissions by 30% in just eight more years. Right now they have more electric cars per capita than any nation in the world.

-One of the reasons we have had such a mild winter is that the Great Lakes Ice Cover has dropped 71% since 1973.

-Speaking of Climate Change, Gallup Poll just did a complete survey on America's attitude toward the issue. A strong 52% of Americans believe that global warming has already begun and is impacting us now. Not suprising is that 67% of Republicans believe it is greatly 'exaggerated'.

Boeing

-A mysterious American businessman just spent $71 million dollars for his own private Boeing 737-300 jet aircraft. He had it personally designed inside for his use (above). Click here to see more photographs.

-BBC News is reporting that Aung San Suu Kyi's party has won forty of the forty contested seats in this week's elections in Burma. She is known as the "Asian Nelson Mandela" having spent over two decades under house arrest.

-Texas Governor Rick Perry was apparently 'stoned' throughout the campaign and during the debates having been on heavy painkillers for a bad back. BusinessInsider.com has a couple of wonderful stories from a new book coming out.

-Towleroad.com contributor Cory Johnson has declared his interest in running for the seat of New York City Council President Christine Quinn when she runs for mayor.

-Hollywood has a new powerful union. SAG and AFTRA approved a merger by a huge vote this past week. SAG/AFTRA as it will now be known, will have much needed clout going into contract negotiations.

-Another reason to make you wonder about our war in Iraq. The current Iraqi government appears to be siding with the Syrian government. Isn't that just special.....sigh.

-"Surging Seas" is a project of the ClimateCentral.org. You can click here to see how Climate Change will impact by the year 2020! Below is the map for New York area.
