-Sitting in my perch at the Glass House Tavern, it has been a busy couple of good weeks for celebrity watching at the Theater District eatery. Among those sighted were Michelle Williams, John LithgowMatthew Broderick, Ed Begley, Jr., Alan Rickman, Jerry O'Connell, Billy Crudup, Dan Akroyd and Rory O'Malley(above)! Also Debra Messing and Will Chase from "Smash" were seen breaking bread with Greg Jbara of "Blue Bloods". And that is just a partial list for the last week or two...

-Singita's Marlon du Toit was interviewed on "TheToday Show" about his fantastic new photographs from the Saba Sands area of South Africa. Watch the interview with Anne Curry.

-Speaking of "The Today Show," they just lost their first week to "Good Morning America" in over sixteen years! Ever since Meredith left, the show has been having real problems. To cap all those problems they might have 'jumped the shark' with the co-host Sarah Palin.

-In a new Public Policy Poll, the citizens of Colorado support by 62% the proposed civil unions legislation. In fact, 53% support full marriage equality and only 40% oppose it.

-President George Washington has won another election and it is an interesting one indeed! The National Army Museum in London asked who was the "Greatest Enemy Commander to Face Britain?" Washington placed ahead of Irish Michael Collins, French Napoleon Bonaparte, German Field Marshall Erwin Rommel and others.

-The Daily News reports that Mayor Michael Bloomberg's approval rating is a high 54% after almost 11 years as mayor!

Editorial cartoon

-Congrats to Editorial Cartoon wunderkind Matt Wuerker of Politico. The talented Matt just won a Pulitzer Prize for "Editorial Cartooning." He also might be the first 'online editorial cartoonist' to ever win the prestigious prize. Above is one of my favorites of his work.

-If you are bored at the office read "Sodahead's" list of "100 Things You Can Say To Piss Off A Republican" Here are the first five:

1. A Socialist wrote the Pledge of Allegiance.

5. The South lost the Civil War, get over it.

-"Matilda the Musical" based on the famous children's book won a record setting seven "Oliviers" which is the British version of our "Tony Awards"! Expect to see it on Broadway in the near future!

Drought

-Expect a busy wildfire season on the East Coast this year as a shortfall of rain is creating drought (map) all the way up to Maine.

-Great interview with Barney Frank in New York Magazine. He says he plans to marry before leaving Congress!

-Donald Trump's wife, Melania, is hosting a birthday fundraiser for Ann Romney. Let's hope the Trump endorsement is the kiss of death as it has been for most of his endorsements.

-Is there hope for ABC's "Body of Proof"? The drama was slated for certain cancellation but for the last two weeks won its time period. I love the show and hope it can somehow survive!
