Amazingly, President Obama could have lost the hotly contested states of Ohio and Florida and still would have won the election with 285 electoral votes! After months of following tracking polls showing close elections in the twelve battleground states only three proved to be somewhat close.

The three were:

Florida: Obama won by 1%

North Carolina: Romney won by 2%

Ohio: Obama won by 2%

The remaining nine had significant margins:

Colorado: Obama won by 5%

Iowa: Obama won by 6%

Michigan: Obama won by 9%

Minnesota: Obama won by 8%

Nevada: Obama won by 6%

New Hampshire: Obama won by 6%

Pennsylvania: Obama won by 5%

Virginia: Obama won by 4%

Wisconsin: Obama won by 7%
