After what seem like endless campaigning, massive barrage of ads and appeals for money here in the United States, the simplicity of the Chinese selection system is quiet in comparison. The selection of 59 year old Xi Jinping to serve for the next ten years was decided by a small group of party leaders who had endless discussions over the last months.

The orderly transition took place behind close doors often at the Communist Party officials vacations homes at the seaside resort of Beidaihe. The leadership elite spent months carefully choosing the new President and the six comrades who will serve by his side.
