Over a dozen nations around the world have in their laws the death penalty for their LGBT citizens. That penalty has recently been implemented in Iraq and Iran. In other nations we have witnessed arrests and our brothers and sisters even being stoned to death. There does not appear a systematic effort to commit genocide against international LGBT citizens in most of those nations.

However the situation in Uganda is causing grave concern because there seems to be developing a officially sanctioned effort to begin the round up of LGBT people, implementing death sentences as punishment and publishing names and addresses of suspected homosexuals so the mobs can take action against them. Much of this effort in Uganda has been financed by right-wing Christian groups based in the United States.

Now the Prime Minister of Uganda has promised as a 'Christmas Gift' to the people that the Parliament will likely pass this week the Ugandan 'Kill Gays' legislation. This proposed bill is one of the worst anywhere. Not does it give the death penalty for LGBT citizens it would also imprison families, allies or anyone else who shelters the community.

Here are the draconian provisions:

1. "Any person alleged to be homosexual would be at risk of life imprisonment or in some circumstances the death penalty"

2. "Any parent who does not denounce their lesbian daughter or gay son to the authorities would face fines of $2,650 or three years in prison"

3. "Any teacher who does not report a lesbian or gay pupil to the authorities within 24 hours would face the same penalties"

4. "And any landlord or landlady who happens to give housing to a suspected homosexual would risk 7 years of imprisonment"
