The National Society for Film Critics, one of the most prestigious grouping of critics in the world, have released their picks for the best of 2012. The sixty prominent critics from around the United States usually tend toward art films than the box office success. This year the critics picked an eclectic group for this year's winners.

Best Screenplay: Tony Kushner (Lincoln)
Best Cinematography: Mihai Malaimare, Jr. The Master
Documentary: "The Gatekeepers"
