This summer is one of the hottest in history for Australia. Tasmania has had numerous communities burned to the ground with many families making narrow escapes. None wad more terrifying than that of the Holmes family in Dunalley, Tasmania. The grandparents were watching their five grandchildren while their mother was a funeral. Suddenly wildfires surrounded their home on a lake and cut off escape by land. The grandparents took the children into the lake clinging to a jetty for two hours while the world burned around them. They all survived including the dog.
