Brown and Markey

A special election will be held to fill the seat of Senator John Kerry who has become Secretary of State. Former Republican Senator Scott Brown (defeated by Senator Elizabeth Warren) has to chose between running for Governor or United States Senate. The latest Public Policy Poll shows a very tight race for Brown in the Senate race and perhaps an easier race for Governor.

While there most likely will be a Democratic Primary, at this time the nominee will be Congressman Ed Markey. In a head to head with Scott Brown, the Congressman virtually ties him. This is after Brown campaigned all last year in the Bay State. The stats showed Brown with 48% and Markey with 45%. Of the undecided voters, 69% of them voted for Senator Warren in the last election.

In the Governor's race, Brown leads the three candidates now running by up to 17%.
