-The Respect for Marriage Coalition has launched a million dollar national campaign to push for marriage equality. They have run ads featuring former Secretary of State Colin Powell, former First Lady Laura Bush, former Vice President Dick Cheney and President Obama. After they appeared, Laura Bush asked that her name be removed. Here is a video from Colin Powell.

-Minnesota Republican State Senator Branden Petersen has won the praise of Young Conservatives for the Freedom to Marry. The State Senator is the first Republican in that state to sponsor the marriage equality legislation in the Gopher State.

-The Human Rights Campaign organized over 50 civil rights, religious, labor, civic and education leaders calling upon President Obama to issue an Executive Order that would bar contractors from gaining federal contracts if they don't have protections for LGBT Americans.

-Respect for Marriage has released a new poll by Anzalone Liszt Grove Research that shows 83% of Americans believe that marriage equality will be the law of the land within ten years. An amazing 75% believe that the freedom to marry is a Constitutional Right.

-The Daily Beast Senior Political Editor Peter Beinart writes that Republican homophobia will make it hard for the Republicans to complete nationally.

-Marriage Equality faces an uphill battle in the Illinois House in the next couple of weeks. The bill has already passed the State Senate by a significant margin. Good news in that the latest polling shows 50% of Illinois voters approve of marriage equality and only 29% oppose.
