Happy 'Fat Tuesday'! This the last day of Mardi Gras before Ash Wednesday and Lent. LIFE Magazine sent talented photographer William Vandivert to New Orleans in 1938 to capture that year's celebrations. The magazine did a five page spread of the famous day of debauchery but here for the first time are some of Vandivert's unpublished photographs!
