The LGBT community is still celebrating the wonderful election of Congressman Sean Maloney (D-NY). The Congressman already is leaving his mark in Washington, D.C. Now the LGBT caucus in the House of Representatives could have a new member from upstate New York.
Sean Eldridge who is an investor, fighter for electoral reform and a key player in the marriage equality battle has filed paperwork to explore running for Congress in the 19th Congressional District. Eldridge was a key player in Freedom to Marry battles in New York and other states. Recently he has created a PAC to overall the campaign laws.
The 19th Congressional District stretches from the Connecticut border to New Jersey in the Hudson Valley. Included in the district are cities like Mount Kisco, Port Jervis, Stony Point, Beacon and Arlington.
The district is currently represented by two term Republican Congressman Chris Gibson who was just re-elected by 53% of the vote. President Obama carried the District by 52% to Romney's 46%.
Eldridge's husband is Chris Hughes who was a co-founder of Facebook and is the new publisher of "The New Republic".
