All weekend long the public has been treated to one Republican after another parading in front of the annual Conservative Political Action Committee (CPAC) conference in Washington, D.C. Each Republican attempted to embrace expanding the Republican Party then follow up with a speech hitting women and LGBT Americans. So much for a new direction!
The entire weekend was capped with a piece of 'performance art' by Sarah Palin. The only highlight might be Jeb Bush's speech asking that the GOP stop attacking women, gays, immigrants and everyone else.
At the conference, the right wing attendees got to vote in a straw poll who their choice was to be the nominee in 2016. Perhaps the biggest shock was that Vice Presidential candidate and "Ryan Budget" author Paul Ryan placed a very distinct fifth. Here are the results:
Rand Paul: 25%
Marco Rubio: 23%
Rick Santorum: 8%
Chris Christie: 7%
Paul Ryan: 6%
Scott Walker: 5%
Dr. Ben Carlson: 4%
Ted Cruz: 4%
Bobby Jindal: 3%
