Pallotta is still trying to justify his exorbitant compensations for his AIDS rides...more than a decade ago. That is all this is about. He's still angry.

Scott,

Do you know what my compensation was, or that it was exorbitant? I'm not asking rhetorically - I'd really like to know if you know, or if you just relied on a rumor, which happens. Do you know any of these things:

- We did not charge a percentage, we charged a fixed fee no matter how much we raised;

- A hindsight calculation of our fees shows they were just 4.01% of the gross we raised - not much more than the credit card companies were charging to process donations, and without doing nearly the amount of work we did.

- 100% of all contributions went directly to the charities, into lock-box accounts under their exclusive control. They then reimbursed us for our expenses on a dollar-for-dollar basis, with zero mark-up.

- My salary ranged from $150,000 in the early years to approximately $400,000 in 2002, when we raised $69 million.

These were results as reported to various states attorneys general as required by law. But we were not required by law to build a website and publish them, as we did here.

You say I am angry. I am not, but you sound as if you are. I encourage you to look at the data and see if you have not been misled by someone other than me.

Correction, in 2002 we raised $169 million, not $69 million.

This is a wonderful insightful and practical way we need to change our thinking about caring for people in our communities next door, around the country and around the world. Like most challenges we can either 1 do more of what we are doing and expect a different result or 2 change the way we think - Great talk

Thank you also for all you have done for the fight against AIDS. Your justifications to cowards who won't even leave their full identity are unnecessary. The bottom line speaks for itself.
