For most of the summer, I have viewed the Republican behavior toward the lives of the American people with increasing anger. Since I don't do anger well, it then occurred to me that perhaps we should be very 'compassionate' toward them since they clearly have hit bottom and need to be in a recovery program.
Only people who are on one acid trip after another (trust me I know since I came of age in the 1960's!) could be making such outrageous decisions and pronouncements.
First we can go to the Republican ticket in Virginia. The Governor candidate has made one outrageous pronouncement after another including holding up the state's legislative process until they State passes a sodomy law. To hell with any Supreme Court decision! The African-American Lt. Governor candidate seems to have been dropped in from Mars proclaiming that Planned Parenthood is worse than the KKK! So much for conservative philosophy of keeping government out of our private lives! Those acid parties in Richmond must be incredible. How does one get an invite?
Second, we have the fact that our brilliant and trippy House of Representatives in Washington, which hasn't been able to agree on the National Anthem, has now settled in with the platform of lets impeach the first African-American President. Even that Canadian guy, Senator Ted Cruz, has expressed exasperation that they don't have enough votes in the Senate. Really guys? Impeach the President? Mind sharing with us the grounds for such a historical act? That Canadian Senator must be having some mind-blowing pool parties.
Third, we reached another acid laden historical milestone with the Republicans in the House voting for the 40th time to overturn Obamacare. In fact, there is a movement to refuse to fund any government at all unless the Democrats agree to defund Obamacare! That's right let them eat cake until they give up access to healthcare! Having just had a nightmare experience with my insurance company can't help but wonder if they are now overdosing on the purple dot acid.
The above doesn't even include one outrageous quote after another against LGBT Americans, women, Hispanics and working class people. The lower the office held by the Republicans the worse the statements seem to get.
So clearly it is time for a major intervention by those who love them and ship them home so they can get the care and treatment that they so desperately need. Constantly being in a state of hallucinations can't be a happy place. We have to get them out of Washington and home safely to Momma and Poppa who can give them unconditional love.
