The Southern most nation in Africa has set a new 'record' that has horrified the entire world. By the end of September, 704 rhinos had been killed in South Africa alone. That beat the 2012 record of 688 killed. Now it appears that it is possible that nation will see over 1,000 killed in this year alone making well over 2,000 slaughtered in the last three years.
There is no question that at this pace this magnificent animals will soon be extinct.
Since 2007 there has been a 5000% increase in poaching of rhino's .
Meaning while in Zimbawe the death toll rose to near 100 elephants that were poisoned at a watering hole. The death of so many in one place at one time has devastated the entire ecological system of Hwange National Park.
A new report says that terrorists are using the rhino horns and elephants tusks to finance their purchase of weapons and their terrorists efforts. One of the main sources for such financing has been al-Shabaab in Somalia.
