President Johnson with Carol Channing
Each President had very strong views on the social life at the White House. President George W. Bush really had a distaste for it and would head upstairs by nine. The Clinton's would always be one of the last ones to leave the party. The Obama's love to party with friends late into the night and are more reserve at official functions but extremely thoughtful and graceful. President Carter was very proper and stiff when at functions.
Without question, the Kennedy's set a new standard for grace and eloquence at the White House.
Town & Country has published some photographs of entertaining in the White House in recent years.
Enjoy!
