This 23-story Beaux Arts–style "oasis on Fifth Avenue in Midtown Manhattan" is "one of the greats." Its facade has limestone carvings, a copper cornice, and Doric columns. "Executive suites are grand, beautiful, and just what you want after a day on the town." Seated on black leather banquettes at Fives, linger over entrées such as miso-marinated black cod. The rooftop Salon de Ning bar is "top-notch and has a cool 1930s Shanghai vibe." The wraparound 2,700-square-foot Sun Terrace overlooks Central Park. "The service is impeccable: Staff greet you by name when you return home—I mean, to the hotel—after a long day."
